Canada: Remember that going to Canada from the United States means crossing an international border
All travelers now need a passport or other accepted secure documents to enter or reenter the United States. Naturalized U.S. residents should carry their naturalization certificate. Permanent residents who aren’t citizens should carry their Permanent Resident Card, more commonly known as a green card. U.S. residents entering Canada from a third country must have a valid passport, naturalization certificate, or green card.

Air Travel: Squeeze in some in-flight fitness
Isometric tightening of your muscles is the simplest way to exercise during a flight. Focus on a muscle or group of muscles—say, your stomach. Sit up straight, and take a deep breath. As you exhale, tighten your muscles and hold for a count of 10. Release and breathe in. Repeat five to 10 times. Do this every 20 minutes or so, choosing a different muscle or set of muscles each time.

Choosing a Cruise Ship: Get the best cabin you can afford
While all cabins are designed to be as comfortable and functional as possible, you can’t get around the fact that cruise-ship cabins are still much smaller than the typical hotel room. If you intend to do nothing more than sleep in your cabin, book the cheapest option, which is typically an inside cabin on a lower deck. But if comfort is important to you, book the best cabin you can afford. On newer ships more and more cabins have balconies, and the chance to sit outside on your balcony to have breakfast or just to relax and look at the stars is an unbeatable luxury.

What Ireland lacks in warm weather, it makes up for with warm and welcoming residents. From crowded pubs that house sing-alongs and cheers to the rolling green countryside of the rural areas, Ireland is a beautiful blend of mountain, sea, sky, and a whole lot of fun.Its charismatic capital, Dublin, is no exception. A small city with museums, parks and a relentless love for beer, Dublin and its hospitable folk are fantastic hosts for any traveler looking for a jovial vacation.

Dominican Republic: Three nights and flights, from $499
Sometimes, there is a difference between traveling and vacationing. Traveling is immersing yourself into a place to absorb a local culture from the inside out. Learning the language, exploring new customs, and delving into a place’s history. Vacationing, on the other hand, is fun, relaxation, and a really good time – no matter where it is.

An affordable Grand Canyon day-trip
A few days into a recent trip to Las Vegas, it became clear to me that my bank account and peace of mind could both likely benefit from a calming day trip to the Grand Canyon. I’m not much of a gambler, and the overcrowded Fourth of July weekend atmosphere in Vegas was getting to be a little much, so a relaxing experience with one of nature’s most incredible creations was just what I needed. Like most Vegas visitors, I didn’t hit it big at the tables, so if I wanted to see the Canyon I had to do it cheaply.

Business class deals trickling out now for holiday travel

{fashion inspiration: goldenrod}
. . . most often drawn to pale & pretty neutrals, both at home and in the closet -- nude, blush and champagne and, for good measure, always black . . . but goldenrod is a hue have yet to perfect, but in the form of an insanely stylish and belted jacket and paired with an indescribably lovely shade of green and a gorgeously patterned scarf, it may just be the very colour of autumn . . .{image: hanne gaby odiele via altamira: models off duty}{this is glamorous} on facebook & follow on twitter copyright © 2007-2010 {this is glamorous} all rights reserved

Murakami Does Macy’s
This is big for Murakami fans and collectors. The well known characters Kaikai and Kiki will be even more well known after their appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. If familiar figures like Kermit the Frog and SpongeBob SquarePants are simply too jejune for you as their larger-than-life, helium-filled representations wind their way toward [...]

Political Pundits Tackle American Vacation Time
‘Tis the season for lots of vacation talk, and so the Capitol Hill crowd turned its attention to shrinking vacation syndrome this week: First, a British columnist speculated that Americans “find it hard to relax” because of their Puritan heritage. Washington Post columnist Ezra Klein responded: I’d say it’s more closely related to the fact that it’s hard to pass social welfare legislation in the American political system, and thus America is the only industrialized country that doesn’t guarantee its workers some amount of paid-vacation leave. NRO’s Reihan Salam followed up with a mild defense of the American system. (Via The Daily Dish)
